Civ VII Patch 1.0.1 Fixes Early Access Issues
Firaxis Games, the developer behind Civilization VII, has released patch 1.0.1, hot on the heels of the strategy game's full launch. The advanced access period yielded mixed Steam reviews, prompting Firaxis to address several key community concerns. These primarily centered around the user interface, limited map variety, and a perceived lack of expected features.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, acknowledged the negative press and player feedback. However, he expressed confidence that the game's appeal would resonate more strongly with long-time Civilization fans upon further engagement, characterizing the early performance as "very encouraging."
Now available to all players, not just those with early access, patch 1.0.1 (PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck only) is the first in a series of planned updates designed to incorporate player feedback. The complete patch notes are detailed below.
It’s important to note that cross-play multiplayer has been temporarily disabled on PC to streamline updates. This means PC patches may be released at a different pace than console versions. This will not affect console-to-console cross-play or PC-to-PC multiplayer.
