The hitbox in Marvel Rivals is controversial
A recent Reddit thread highlighted significant hitbox issues in Marvel Rivals. A striking example showed Spider-Man hitting Luna Snow from several meters away, a discrepancy captured in-game. Other instances showed hits registering despite visually missing their target. While lag compensation has been suggested as a cause, the core problem appears to be flawed hitbox design. Professional players have further demonstrated inconsistencies, with right-side aiming consistently landing hits while left-side aiming often fails. This points to broader, systemic hitbox problems across multiple characters.
Despite this, Marvel Rivals, often dubbed the "Overwatch killer," has enjoyed a successful Steam launch, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 444,000 on its first day—a figure comparable to Miami's population. However, optimization remains a key concern. Players with graphics cards such as the Nvidia GeForce 3050 have reported noticeable frame rate drops. Despite these performance issues, many players praise the game's enjoyable gameplay and fair pricing model. A significant advantage is the non-expiring nature of battle passes, eliminating the pressure of needing to constantly grind. This feature alone could greatly influence player perception of the game.
