The Hermit quest becomes available as you progress through the quests for the blacksmith Radovan in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After successfully locating the lost cart, return to Radovan. He'll reveal his plan to forge a sword as a wedding gift, which kicks off the Hermit questline. However, before you can approach the hermit, you'll need to gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

Start by visiting the tavern in Troskowitz and engaging with Innkeeper Betty, ensuring you explore all dialogue options thoroughly. Next, chat with other villagers to collect more details. In my playthrough, speaking with the alehouse maid and the general trader proved particularly informative.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Your next task is to speak with Gerda in Troskowitz, who has seen the mysterious apparition. You can persuade her to share her story by either offering a small amount of Groschen or passing a dialogue check.

Afterwards, travel to Apollonia to meet Stanislav. Similar to Gerda, you'll need to pass a dialogue check or pay him with Groschen to obtain the necessary information.

Gather Evidence

Armed with insights, it's time to gather concrete evidence. Head to the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave to find Groschen, documents, and artifacts related to the Knights of the Cross. Remember, you'll need a spade, which you can buy from the general trader in Troskowitz or find for free by searching cemeteries near settlements.

Read through the documents, then follow the quest marker to Apollonia where you'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse. Examining the horse will lead you to your next clue, preparing you to confront the hermit.

Talk to the Hermit

Proceed to the hermit’s hut to engage in conversation. Without the gathered evidence, he won't be forthcoming, but with your clues, he'll be more willing to talk.

Choose these dialogue options:

• “You’re suspicious.”
• Exhaust all dialogue options about the clues and evidence.
• “Out with it!”

The hermit will then confess that he is not Ambrose, but Konrad. Before handing over the sword, Konrad asks you to visit a widow named Margaret in the cemetery near Apollonia and give her a cross. This action initiates the Sinful Soul quest, which you can complete immediately by helping Margaret dig a grave for Ambrose, though this step is optional.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Upon returning to the hermit's hut, you'll encounter a group of Crusaders. You have the choice to either aid them in killing Konrad or help Konrad escape.

Sneak back to the hut and inform Konrad that you've completed his tasks. Ask about the sword, and you'll face the decision to either assist Konrad or kill him. I chose to kill Konrad, as it's less challenging, especially with Mutt and the Crusaders' support.

After defeating Konrad, converse with the Crusaders and offer to return the documents in exchange for some Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

Finally, venture north of the hermit's hut to locate two intertwined oak trees. The hermit's sword will be embedded in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to conclude the quest.
