Warzone Lobby Crashes Persist Despite Fix Attempt

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in undeserved penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, a temporary solution has been implemented.

The Problem: Players reported widespread game freezes and crashes while loading into matches, leading to frustration and unfair in-game penalties, such as Skill Rating (SR) point deductions and temporary match bans. This issue followed other recent problems including server outages and persistent cheating concerns.

The Temporary Fix: Raven Software, the developer, acknowledged the issue and swiftly responded. As of January 9th, penalties for players disconnecting before joining a Ranked match have been temporarily suspended. This means players will no longer lose SR points or face timeouts due to this specific loading screen bug. Penalties for leaving matches mid-game remain in effect.

Ongoing Concerns: The underlying bug causing the crashes remains unfixed. This temporary measure provides immediate relief from unfair penalties but doesn't resolve the root cause. The persistence of bugs, even after a major update in early January 2025, highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the development team. Players are understandably eager for a complete resolution to prevent further disruptions to Ranked play. The developers are actively working on a permanent fix.
