Rockstar Launches Bully Anniversary Update

Rockstar Games has surprised fans with an Anniversary Edition update for the mobile version of Bully – the first patch in six years. The update brings improvements exclusively to Android and iOS versions, with no changes for console or PC players.
Rockstar Remembers Bullworth Academy
The Bully: Anniversary Edition update introduces new language support while focusing primarily on performance optimizations and bug fixes. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily disabled the Friends Challenges feature during this update cycle.
Android users with compatible devices now benefit from Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) visual enhancements. Both mobile platforms receive an updated app icon and newly implemented haptic feedback support.
Key mission fixes address longstanding issues: Mandy's locker in "That Bitch" was previously unpickable, while "Weed Killer" would soft-lock if players broke the window prematurely. The infamous police cars from "The Rumble" that would phase through terrain have also been patched.
The update resolves combat balancing where enemies sometimes wouldn't attack Jimmy, alongside crashes that occurred during new game initialization or when loading saves from the pause menu.
Community Reactions to Bully's Unexpected Update
While fans have clamored for Bully 2 for over a decade, Rockstar's development focus remains elsewhere. Reports indicate a sequel entered development during the 2010s before being shelved in favor of Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online.
With GTA VI currently in production and key Bully developers having departed Rockstar, hopes for a true sequel continue to dwindle. This mobile update – while not a remaster – still delivers meaningful improvements for longtime players.
For newcomers, Bully offers Rockstar's signature open-world formula applied to schoolyard mischief. Players control rebellious teenager Jimmy Hopkins navigating the social hierarchies of Bullworth Academy through classic open-world gameplay with trademark Rockstar humor.
Bully: Anniversary Edition is available on Google Play Store for €7.99 with full controller support. While waiting for GTA VI news, check out our coverage of Oh My Anne's new storybook-themed update featuring Rilla's adventures.
