Latest Updates on Blades of Fire Revealed
The developers at MercurySteam are alumni of Rebel Act Studios, renowned for creating the cult classic game Severance: Blade of Darkness. Released in 2001, this title was celebrated for its groundbreaking combat system, which allowed players to sever enemies' limbs, injecting a level of brutality and realism into the gameplay. Severance became a pivotal source of inspiration for the new team at MercurySteam.
In crafting their new game, the developers also drew upon the influences of contemporary action-adventure titles. Notably, they were inspired by the cinematic combat and richly detailed world of the God of War reboot from Santa Monica Studio. MercurySteam aimed to blend fast-paced action with RPG elements to deliver a deeply engaging and immersive gaming experience.
One of the standout features of Blades of Fire is its innovative weapon crafting system. Players have the freedom to forge their own blades, customizing attributes such as length, weight, durability, and balance. This level of personalization enables each player to craft weapons that perfectly align with their preferred combat style.
The narrative of Blades of Fire centers on the warrior Aran de Lira, who embarks on a perilous journey against a cunning queen with the power to transform metal into stone. Throughout his quest, Aran will confront 50 distinct enemy types, each demanding a unique strategy to overcome.
Blades of Fire is set to launch on PC (EGS), Xbox Series, and PS5 on May 22, 2025. Players can look forward to a rich and thrilling gaming experience that honors its roots while pushing the boundaries of modern action-adventure games.
