Take-Two CEO Bullish on Nintendo Switch 2
With the Nintendo Switch 2 launch less than a month away amidst ongoing discussions about pricing, tariffs, and game key cards, one third-party publisher expresses strong confidence in the upcoming console: Take-Two Interactive.
During today's investor Q&A following the company's full-year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick shared his "great optimism" for Nintendo's new platform when asked about Take-Two's support. Notably, he highlighted Nintendo's improved approach to third-party publishers compared to previous console generations:
"We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, marking our most extensive release lineup for any new Nintendo platform. Historically, third-party support on Nintendo systems faced challenges, but Nintendo has made significant progress in addressing this. We're fully committed as well, given our strong belief in the platform's potential. Our approach remains platform-specific - we follow where the players are without necessarily porting every title. There's also promising potential for catalog titles."
The confirmed launch titles include Civilization 7 (June 5 release date), NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific entries and dates unspecified), and Borderlands 4 (September 12). While these franchises already appeared on the original Switch, Zelnick's comments suggest potential for additional releases, possibly including catalog titles. Although GTA 6 seems unlikely, a future port of GTA V remains a possibility.
Prior to the investor call, we discussed the company's quarterly performance with Zelnick, including GTA 6's development progress and his perspective on the recent delay pushing its release to next year.
