New Star Wars Turn-Based Tactics Game to Be Revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025

EA is set to unveil its highly anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game at the Star Wars Celebration 2025. Announced back in early 2022, the game is being developed by Bit Reactor, a studio founded by veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the acclaimed XCOM series. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the creators of the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life. The game will be showcased during a live panel on April 19, featuring key members from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as outlined in the Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.

While details about the game remain sparse, including the specific Star Wars era it will explore and the precise mechanics of its gameplay, fans can anticipate a strategic experience akin to XCOM but infused with the rich lore and iconic elements of the Star Wars universe.

Respawn Entertainment is also progressing with the third installment of its Star Wars Jedi series, though it's not slated for a reveal at this year's Celebration. Previously, Respawn was developing another Star Wars game, a first-person shooter rumored to center around a Mandalorian protagonist. However, this project was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA, which resulted in the loss of about 670 jobs. Additionally, in March, Respawn discontinued a multiplayer first-person shooter project and laid off an unspecified number of staff involved.

Star Wars Celebration 2025 will also feature previews of other exciting projects, including a sneak peek at "The Mandalorian & Grogu" movie, set for release in May 2026, and a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3."
