Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character
Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising addition to its roster: Jar Jar Binks as a playable character. This revelation, accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff and delivering his characteristically chaotic lines.
The 2000 original featured iconic characters and locations from The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to capitalize on nostalgia while adding new content. Besides lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, a significant expansion includes numerous new playable characters, with Jar Jar being the latest announced.
The trailer highlights Jar Jar's gameplay, dispelling any hopes of a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding character. Instead, he utilizes a staff in combat. Jar Jar Binks will be available upon the game's January 23rd launch, and pre-orders are currently open.
Newly Revealed Playable Characters:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib

Aspyr has confirmed nine additional new playable characters beyond Jar Jar, with more to be revealed. This diverse selection includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types. The Gungan Guard's inclusion precedes Jar Jar's announcement.
