"Silksong Confirmed for Release, Says PR Manager"
Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager
Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to progress, as confirmed by Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin. Dive into the latest details and fan speculations surrounding this eagerly awaited sequel!
This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real
Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin
In the wake of recent speculation sparked by a seemingly innocuous cake image, Hollow Knight fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. Matthew "Leth" Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and Publishing Head, took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively in development. This reassurance came in response to a fan's plea for hope that the project was still underway.
The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to a cake, prompting fans to theorize about an upcoming Silksong announcement or an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). YouTuber fireb0rn reached out to Griffin to clarify these rumors and discovered that the cake image was simply a harmless change, debunking any associated theories. "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie," fireb0rn tweeted.
However, Griffin quickly reignited hope by reaffirming that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This statement marks the first update from Team Cherry on Silksong's status in over a year and a half.
Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History
First unveiled in February 2019, Silksong was initially expected to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, explaining that the game had grown significantly and they wanted to enhance it further. Silksong promises to transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and feature a new difficulty mode called Silk Soul.
The recent update, although minimal, has elicited mixed reactions. Some fans are grateful for the assurance and express support, urging the team not to rush due to external pressures. Others, after nearly six years of anticipation, are growing impatient, feeling that Team Cherry's communication has been lacking.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey across an uncharted world, striving to reach the kingdom's summit. While no specific release window has been announced yet, stay tuned for further updates and announcements!
