REPO \"Duck Bucket\" Added in First Update to Fend Off That Dreaded Duck
REPO's developers have unveiled exciting plans for the game, including a game-changing "duck bucket" designed to neutralize the pesky, killer duck. Read on to discover more about their upcoming updates and the insightful feedback from the creator of Lethal Company.
REPO's First Update: Details Revealed
The Duck Bucket: A Savior Against the Feathered Menace
REPO's first update introduces a new map and, most importantly, the highly anticipated "duck bucket." This ingenious addition, revealed in a March 15th YouTube video by Semiwork Studios, provides a solution to the game's notoriously terrifying duck.
REPO, a thrilling online co-op horror game for up to six players, tasks teams with carefully extracting valuable items from a terrifying world. Players often find themselves pursued by The Apex Predator—a seemingly innocent yellow duck that transforms into a horrifying monster upon damage or contact, attacking players for ten seconds before reverting to its normal form.
The "duck bucket" offers a much-needed solution, safely containing the duck and preventing accidental triggering of its monstrous transformation. This update also promises improved facial expressions and other quality-of-life enhancements.
"The Museum": A New Map for Parkour Enthusiasts and Improved Extraction
Semiwork Studios also announced a new map, "The Museum," designed to challenge players' parkour skills. Extraction points will now feature clearer visual boundaries, making it easier to determine if loot is within the extraction zone.
Responding to player feedback, the developers are also exploring the implementation of public lobbies. They are considering features like public/private hosting options and a kick button, acknowledging the complexities of server-side coding involved. While highly anticipated, this feature may arrive later than initially expected.
Lethal Company Creator Weighs In on REPO
Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to the popular co-op horror game, Lethal Company, due to shared mechanics and themes. On March 15th, Lethal Company creator Zeekers offered constructive criticism via Twitter (X), suggesting areas for improvement.
Zeekers praised the game's humor, highlighting the unique challenge of moving a grand piano through a cramped mansion. However, he also pointed out areas needing attention: the voice chat range needs expansion, and the excessive muffling effect needs adjustment. He also noted that levels with vast open spaces don't quite fit the game's design, suggesting that the cramped mansion layout is where REPO truly shines. He further addressed concerns about enemies sneaking up silently, suggesting an in-game tutorial to explain enemy behavior.
R.E.P.O., currently the second best-selling game on Steam (behind Counter-Strike 2), has already amassed over 230,645 concurrent players, nearing the all-time peak of Lethal Company. To stay updated on the latest R.E.P.O. news, check out the link below!
