Pokémon GO Adds Morpeko and More, Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax Coming to Game

Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has hinted at the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, features originally introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This exciting news follows the confirmation of Morpeko's addition to the game.

Galar Region Focus for the Upcoming Season?

Niantic's announcement confirms Morpeko, known for its form-changing abilities, will soon be available. This has fueled fan speculation about the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax. These mechanics, prominent in the Galar region, allow Pokémon to dramatically increase in size and power.

"Morpeko is charging into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle!" Niantic revealed, highlighting Morpeko's form-shifting abilities through Charged Attacks. They further teased the upcoming season with the promise of "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon."

While specifics remain under wraps, these "big" changes are expected to launch in September. The addition of Morpeko has led to speculation about other Galar Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash joining the roster. The implementation of Dynamax/Gigantamax in Pokémon GO remains unclear, including whether Power Spots (as seen in Sword and Shield) will play a role. The current Shared Skies season ends September 3rd, and many believe the next season will center on Galar Pokémon, further fueling the Dynamax/Gigantamax hype. However, these remain speculations until officially confirmed.
