Pokémon Scarlet/Violet Hosts Year of the Snake Mass Outbreak Event
A new Mass Outbreak event is underway in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, celebrating the Year of the Snake! This limited-time event, running until January 12th, features increased Shiny encounter rates for Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper.
This Snakelike Mass Outbreak follows the recent Shiny Rayquaza Tera raid event, a fitting end to the Year of the Dragon. The current event offers a chance to catch these serpentine Pokémon in abundance. Silicobra will appear across all land areas of Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Level ranges will vary from 10 to 65, depending on player progression.
To participate, players must connect to the internet, access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News." The Shiny encounter rate is boosted by 0.5% before any additional multipliers are applied. Shiny hunting can be further enhanced with Shiny Sandwiches; Ekans and Seviper require a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica and a Green Bell Pepper, while Silicobra uses Ham instead of a pepper.
The future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet beyond this event remains uncertain, particularly with the anticipated launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed.
