Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Rituals

Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues, offer unique challenges and rewards. This guide details how to initiate and master Ritual events, including the passive skill tree, the Pinnacle boss, and the rewarding Tribute and Favour system.

Understanding Ritual Altars and Encounters

Atlas Map Node with Ritual Icon

On the Atlas map, Ritual Altar nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Entering a map with a Ritual spawns several Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types and mechanics. These modifiers might include massive rat hordes, or life-draining pools of blood.

To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large circular area will illuminate; remain within this zone and eliminate all enemies to complete the Ritual. Leaving the designated area prematurely ends the event with no rewards. A map is considered complete only after all its Rituals are successfully finished.

Confronting the King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtained from Ritual Favours, unlocks access to The Crux Of Nothingness and the King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss. Use this currency at your Realmgate on the Atlas map to initiate the fight.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique event-exclusive items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas map's passive skill tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual events. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates.

The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing the King in the Mists' difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the King in the Mists at the increased difficulty.

Prioritize nodes like 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' initially for maximized rewards. 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' should follow to increase chances for valuable Omens and 'An Audience With The King'.

Notable Node Effects:

Notable Delirium Passive Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion 25% increased Ritual Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute and faster Favour appearance at Altars N/A
From The Mists 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness and deal 10% more damage, but no longer penalize Tribute From The Mists
Spreading Darkness Always 4 Ritual Altars in maps with a Ritual N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute earned) Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents 25% faster monster waves, but 50% higher chance of Omens in Favours N/A
He Approaches 20% chance for revived monsters to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance for 'An Audience With The King' in Rituals Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolls N/A

Harvesting Rewards: Tribute, Favours, and Omens

Completed Rituals award Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed equate to more Tribute and unlocked Favours, ranging from basic Magic items and currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omen currencies, powerful items enhancing other currency effects, are highly sought-after. These are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy, offering more control over crafting outcomes.

Beyond the Tribute and Favour system, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool of event-exclusive items.
