Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, introduces an array of exciting new features, including crossplay across all platforms. This update allows players to seamlessly connect and play with friends regardless of their gaming system, enhancing the community experience. Another significant addition is the Global Palbox, which enables players to store Pal data and transfer Pals between different worlds. The update also brings the Dimensional Pal Storage, boasting a storage capacity ten times larger than the standard Palbox. This new system is not only accessible to guild members but can also be configured for personal use with private settings.

Further enhancing the gameplay, Palworld now offers a cosmetic armor system through the Antique Dresser. Players can customize their character's appearance without impacting armor stats, allowing for more personalized style choices. The introduction of a Photo Mode, accessible via the Pal Command Wheel, lets players capture stunning in-game moments by hiding the UI and freely moving the camera. For those interested in crafting, the new Drafting Table feature allows players to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, adding depth to the crafting system.

Technical enhancements include dedicated servers for Mac users, improving the gaming experience for a broader audience. The update also features several specification adjustments, such as the ability to place buildings even when they overlap with a Pal, and automatic alignment of connected foundations and roofs for smoother base construction. Additional quality-of-life improvements include assigning Ice Pals to the Flea Market to slow down item decay, adding torches at random dungeon entrances for better visibility, and allowing players to sit on chairs and cushions.

Balance adjustments have been made to various aspects of the game, including elemental chest rewards, which now guarantee Dog Coins and have a chance to drop work suitability books. The EXP gained from defeating the Attack Chopper has been increased, and the DPS of Flamethrowers has been boosted. There are also changes to default attacks for Electric and Dark Pals, ensuring more consistent gameplay across different elements. New work suitability and animations for human NPCs, adjustments to summoned raid bosses, and the addition of the Water attribute to Dumud round out the balance changes.

The user interface has been refined with new sorting options for the Pal Box, categorized favorites, and the ability to continuously adjust values in the Pal Soul Enhancement UI. An "Extra Large" text size option and Fullscreen Mode have been added to improve accessibility and immersion. Several new achievements have been introduced, providing players with additional goals to strive for.

Numerous bug fixes accompany the update, addressing issues such as players being launched into space while climbing, stunning bugs over water, and various problems with NPC interactions and Bounty Token stacking. These fixes ensure a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience for all players.

Developer Pocketpair is actively working on adding dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version, with a planned release in the future. Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an impressive 32 million players. The studio has outlined a comprehensive content roadmap for 2025, promising more new content, including an "ending scenario," alongside the recent crossplay feature.

Launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously available on Xbox and PC via Game Pass, Palworld broke sales and concurrent player number records. The game's massive success led Pocketpair to form Palworld Entertainment with Sony, aiming to expand the IP and bring the game to the PlayStation 5.

However, Palworld faces a legal challenge from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who allege that the game infringes on multiple patent rights. Pocketpair has responded by identifying the patents in question and adjusting gameplay mechanics, such as how players summon Pals. The developer remains committed to defending its position in court against these allegations.
