"Monster Hunter Wilds Hits 8 Million Sales in Just 3 Days, Breaks Capcom Record"

Author : David Apr 25,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has not only surpassed eight million units sold in just three days, but it has also become the fastest Capcom game ever to reach this milestone. This impressive performance far exceeds the initial sales of its predecessors, with 2018's Monster Hunter World shipping five million copies and 2021's Monster Hunter Rise shipping four million copies.

These numbers shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, as Monster Hunter Wilds rocketed above one million concurrent players on Steam over its opening weekend. It even overtook Cyberpunk 2077 to become the 7th most-played game ever on the platform. The game's launch also played a key role in helping Steam cross the 40 million concurrent players mark for the first time.

In our Monster Hunter Wilds review, we praised the game for "continuing to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."

Speaking of the Monster Hunter series, Capcom revealed that the franchise, which began in 2004 on PlayStation 2, has exceeded 108 million units sold as of December 31, 2024.
