Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch Size Revealed

The day-one patch for *Monster Hunter Wilds* has taken the gaming community by storm with its hefty 18GB file size. Initially rolled out on PlayStation 5, Capcom is expected to extend this update to other platforms soon. Although the patch notes are yet to be released, the large size of the update has sparked speculation among fans.

One of the leading theories is that this patch introduces high-resolution textures to the game. Review copies lacked these textures, which are crucial for enhancing the visual appeal of *Monster Hunter Wilds*. The significant size of the update supports this theory, as high-resolution textures demand considerable storage space.

Given its initial release on PlayStation 5, the patch might also include enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Capcom has confirmed that *Monster Hunter Wilds* will leverage the capabilities of the PS5 Pro at launch, and integrating these enhancements in the day-one patch could significantly boost gameplay performance for console players.

Another expected component of this patch is a series of bug fixes. Despite Capcom's diligent efforts to refine the game, several bugs remain that need addressing. Including these fixes in the first major update is a move that many anticipate.

Although termed a 'day-one patch,' players who have pre-ordered the game can download it ahead of the February 28 release date. Those with slower internet connections are advised to download the patch before the launch to ensure a seamless first playthrough.

It's important to note that this patch, labeled as version 1.000.020, is unlikely to introduce new content. Despite its substantial size, it should be viewed as a minor update aimed at improving gameplay and fixing existing issues.

For those eagerly awaiting new content, *Monster Hunter Wilds* will offer three paid DLC packs post-launch. Additionally, players can look forward to two free content updates: the first arriving in spring, introducing Mizutsune and event quests, and the second in summer, bringing new monsters and missions.

*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
