Konami Teases MGS4 PS5, Xbox Ports
As speculation mounts about Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 coming to next-gen consoles, Konami has responded to fan theories regarding a potential Metal Gear Solid 4 remake that could bring the game to PS5, Xbox, and other platforms.
Metal Gear Solid 4 May Finally Escape PS3 Exclusivity
MGS Master Collection Vol.2 Could Feature Groundbreaking Port
In an exclusive IGN interview, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura subtly addressed the possibility of MGS4 being included in Master Collection Vol.2. When questioned about bringing the 2008 classic to current-generation systems including PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, Okamura acknowledged fan excitement while maintaining corporate secrecy.
"We're certainly aware of the MGS4 situation," Okamura told IGN. "With Vol. 1 covering MGS 1-3... you might draw your own conclusions! Currently, we're still determining the series' future direction. We can't disclose specifics yet, but keep watching for updates!"
The gaming community has long anticipated seeing Metal Gear Solid 4, originally a PS3 exclusive since 2008, potentially included in Master Collection Vol. 2. Following last year's release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 - which brought the first three games to modern platforms including Switch and PC - a PS5 version of MGS4 seems increasingly plausible.
Speculation intensified last year when Konami's official Metal Gear timeline page showed placeholder sections for MGS4, MGS5 and Peace Walker, fueling theories about these titles appearing in Master Collection Vol.2. While Konami hasn't officially confirmed these plans, IGN reported these three games are likely candidates for the unannounced collection.
Voicing rumors gained credibility last November when David Hayter, the English voice of Solid Snake, hinted on social media about his involvement in an unannounced MGS-related project. Despite these indicators, Konami has yet to disclose any official plans regarding a potential MGS4 remake or its inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2.
