As part of the 15th anniversary celebrations, 4A Games is giving away Metro 2033 Redux for the next 48 hours. This generous move allows newcomers to dive into the franchise's origins. Additionally, 4A Games shared their plans for the year in a blog post on March 16 on their official website. The post promised a year filled with events, deals, and celebratory content across Metro’s social media channels, as a way to thank players for their continued support.

Founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanding to Malta, 4A Games draws inspiration from Dmitry Glukhovsky’s science fiction novel, Metro 2033, and its sequels. Despite the ongoing challenges in Ukraine, the developers remain committed to exploring themes related to the war in their work. They acknowledge the difficult situation but remain focused on safety and quality, stating, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title, it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."

The Next Metro

Currently, 4A Games is working on two ambitious projects: the next Metro game and a brand new IP. While details on the new IP remain under wraps, the developers have shared insights into how the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has influenced the narrative of the next Metro title. In a 2022 studio update, they explained, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."

Despite the challenges, 4A Games remains steadfast in their commitment to delivering hard-hitting, reality-inspired stories. They assure fans that they will overcome these obstacles to deliver a quality game that continues the Metro legacy, especially relevant in today's context.
