Mass Effect Voice Actress Wants Original Cast to Return for TV Series
Jennifer Hale, the voice of the female Commander Shepard in the original Mass Effect trilogy, expresses her enthusiasm for Amazon's upcoming live-action adaptation. She's keen on participating in the show and advocates for reuniting as much of the original voice cast as possible.
Amazon secured the rights to adapt the Mass Effect games in 2021, and the series is now under development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project boasts a notable team, including Michael Gamble (Mass Effect game project leader), Karim Zreik (former Marvel Television producer), Avi Arad (movie producer), and Daniel Casey (writer of Fast & Furious 9).
The challenge of adapting Mass Effect's branching narrative and customizable protagonist, Commander Shepard, is significant. Players have formed strong attachments to their personalized Shepards, creating a potential hurdle for the show's casting.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Hale, a veteran voice actress, voiced her desire to be involved in the Mass Effect series. She emphasized the exceptional talent within the voice acting community, stating that it would be a wise decision to utilize their skills. She highlighted the performers as "some of the most brilliant I've ever met," urging production companies to recognize their value.
Hale naturally favors a live-action portrayal of the "FemShep" she originally voiced, although she's open to any role. She also expressed her eagerness to return for future Mass Effect video games.
The Mass Effect series boasts a stellar voice cast, contributing significantly to the immersive experience. The return of actors like Brandon Keener (Garrus Vakarian), Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan Alenko), or Hale herself would undoubtedly delight long-time fans of the franchise.
