Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
After diving into Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test, Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won is buzzing with fresh ideas for future projects. At the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared his thoughts with Eurogamer about the evolving Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware games is clear, as seen in the design and feel of Lies of P.
Choi was impressed by the innovative approach of Elden Ring: Nightreign, stating, "I've tried [Nightreign], and it was very refreshing and new. This experience made it clear that FromSoftware continues to push their boundaries with imagination and vision. It motivated me to ensure that the Overture DLC delivers the best possible experience for our players."
This enthusiasm has opened the door to new possibilities, including multiplayer games. Choi affirmed, "For our future projects, we are certainly open to exploring various opportunities."
While Choi admires FromSoftware's work, he emphasizes that his inspirations are diverse. In an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he explained, "I draw inspiration from a wide range of games. This variety of experiences shapes the unique Lies of P experience. It's a blend of different inspirations that I transform into something special for our fans."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi revealed that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players around 15-20 hours to complete, packed with new bosses and content originally intended for the main game. He elaborated, "Overture is intricately linked to the base game, enhancing the overall Lies of P experience. Developing this expansion was a challenging yet rewarding endeavor."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to Krat during its last days of haunting, following the journey of a legendary Stalker. It incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and concepts that couldn't be included in the initial release due to production constraints. Choi likened this DLC to a Director's Cut, describing it as the final piece of the Lies of P puzzle.
He stressed the importance of quality, saying, "When we launched the base game, we had to prioritize quality over quantity. The support from our community inspired us to deliver everything we envisioned in this expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In a discussion with IGN at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Choi clarified that Overture does not directly tie into the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending hinted at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details remain under wraps.
Choi assured fans, "When we're ready to share more about our future projects, you'll know it's because we're confident in the quality we're delivering. Amidst all the pressure, our focus remains on delivering a top-notch experience."
Choi encouraged players to revisit the base game, as it contains numerous hints about what Overture might hold. He's also been keeping an eye on fan theories online, noting that some are surprisingly accurate.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for a Summer 2025 release, without a specific date yet announced. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated expansion!
