Game Over: Nintendo

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is Closing Down – But Not Entirely!

Yes, you read that correctly! Nintendo has announced the end of online services for its popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Players are understandably surprised, but the news is out. Let's break down the details.

The Shutdown Date:

Online services for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will cease on November 28th, 2024. This means no more Leaf Tickets, no more Pocket Camp Club memberships (auto-renewal stops October 28th – no refunds, but a commemorative badge awaits!), and no more online interactions with friends. Your last chance to acquire Leaf Tickets is November 26th. The final online farewell is scheduled for 7:00 AM PST on November 28th.

The Silver Lining: An Offline Version!

While the online experience is ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be absent, the core gameplay will remain. Your saved progress will carry over, allowing continued play without an internet connection. Expect more details on this paid offline version around October 2024.

A Trend of Mobile Game Closures?

This isn't the first mobile game Nintendo has discontinued. Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost have already met their end, and Mario Kart Tour is currently in maintenance mode. Therefore, the closure of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, while sad, is perhaps not entirely unexpected.
