Omori's European Physical Release Cancellation
A String of Postponements
The cancellation, announced via Twitter (X), follows a series of delays. Initially slated for a March 2023 European release, the physical versions were pushed back to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally to January 2025. Pre-orders were subsequently canceled, culminating in the final decision to scrap the release altogether. While Meridiem Games offered little further explanation regarding the localization issues, the repeated delays clearly indicate significant challenges.
This cancellation is a significant blow to European fans, as it prevents the official release of a Spanish and other localized European language versions. While importing a US copy remains an option, the lack of official localized physical copies is a considerable setback for players who prefer physical media.
Omori, an RPG centered around Sunny, a young boy grappling with the aftermath of a traumatic event, blends reality and a surreal dreamscape where he becomes Omori. Initially launched on PC in December 2020, it expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, the Xbox release was later removed due to an inappropriate T-shirt design previously sold by OMOCAT.
