Introducing Multiple Dystopian Cities

Cyberpunk Universe Expanding to Chicago

The next installment in the Cyberpunk franchise, codenamed Project Orion, will expand beyond Night City with an all-new urban landscape. During Digital Dragons 2025 on May 20, R. Talsorian Games founder Mike Pondsmith shared development insights.

Though not as directly involved as with the original game, Pondsmith confirmed he's actively monitoring the sequel's progress. "I review scripts regularly," he revealed. "Just last week I was consulting with various departments, evaluating new cyberware concepts and their creative direction."

The veteran designer particularly praised the team's vision for the new city: "When I saw their approach, I immediately recognized they were capturing exactly the right atmosphere - not reminiscent of Blade Runner, but rather a twisted vision of Chicago. The concept completely works."

CD Projekt Red Hiring for Cyberpunk 2

CD Projekt Red has been building its development team for Cyberpunk 2 this year, recently posting a crucial Lead Encounter Designer position. This role involves designing "thrilling gameplay encounters" while working on what could become the game industry's "most realistic and reactive crowd system to date."

While Project Orion details remain scarce, these hiring initiatives and Pondsmith's remarks suggest the sequel will further enhance the franchise's celebrated world-building and narrative depth.
