After a remarkable 25-year hiatus, the beloved role-playing game Breath of Fire IV has made a triumphant return to PC, thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America back in 2000, followed by Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC port in 2003 in Europe and Japan. Now, fans can once again embark on the epic journey with Ryu, the protagonist who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of warriors, Ryu's mission is to thwart an emperor's sinister plans to destroy the world.

GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV for modern PCs, ensuring it's DRM-free and fully optimized for contemporary systems. Compatible with Windows 10 and 11, the game boasts both English and Japanese localizations. The visual experience has been significantly enhanced with an upgraded DirectX renderer, introducing improved graphics, new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction. Additionally, the audio engine has been overhauled, restoring missing environmental sounds and offering new configuration options for an immersive auditory experience.
