Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 with Cheerful Video Marking 10M RE4 Players
Capcom has cleverly dropped a subtle hint about Resident Evil 9 right in the midst of their celebrations. To mark the impressive milestone of reaching 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team shared a celebratory video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong quietly conversing with a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by infected enemies, amusingly wearing party hats as they shuffle towards a church.
The video then transitions to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador strumming a chainsaw as if it were a guitar, and a fist-pumping Leon in the foreground. Behind him, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing." You can watch the full video below:

However, when you tilt that sign sideways, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which signifies the number 9. While this could be a mere coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank on the sign, crucial for forming the numeral, was not present in earlier parts of the video, indicating it was intentionally added. One viewer responded with surprise, saying, "I know what you did here," followed by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be helmed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi shared his thoughts at the time, stating, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Speculation suggests, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
