Beloved Square Enix RPG Resurrected on Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

RPG enthusiasts can celebrate! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed Square Enix title, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. This follows a recent acquisition of publishing rights by Square Enix from Nintendo, a move that may explain the brief delisting.

The return of Triangle Strategy allows Nintendo Switch owners to once again purchase and download this popular tactical RPG. The game, lauded for its classic gameplay reminiscent of titles like Fire Emblem, had previously been unavailable for several days.

Square Enix's announcement on Twitter confirmed the game's reappearance on the eShop, though the reason for the initial delisting remains officially unstated. Speculation points to the recent shift in publishing rights from Nintendo to Square Enix.

This isn't the first time a Square Enix game has experienced a short-lived eShop absence; Octopath Traveler faced a similar situation last year. However, Triangle Strategy's return was significantly quicker, lasting only four days compared to Octopath Traveler's several-week hiatus.

The game's re-emergence is positive news for Nintendo Switch players and underscores the strong ongoing relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This collaboration is evident in past releases, including the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the Nintendo Switch exclusive release of the definitive version of Dragon Quest 11. Square Enix's history of console-exclusive titles, dating back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES, continues to this day, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth currently a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
