"Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2)"
In *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power through anointing is a key strategy that can significantly impact your gameplay. This feature, available for both amulets and Waystones, becomes accessible later in the game when you acquire Distilled Emotions from Delirium Maps. If you're familiar with the original game, you'll recognize Distilled Emotions as similar to Blight Oils. There are ten distinct types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
To obtain Distilled Emotions, the primary method involves completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random mix of these emotions. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market. For those looking to enhance their Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is the place to go. By combining three of the same type, you can upgrade them to a higher level, giving you precise control over the emotions you collect.
For a more challenging approach, tackling Simulacrum waves offers a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, though this method is less efficient and demands a robust build due to its higher difficulty.
How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Anointing in *Path of Exile 2* is currently limited to amulets and Waystones, though future updates during Early Access might expand these options. To anoint an amulet, choose a Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. The specific emotion doesn't matter at this stage. Place the amulet in the central box and then add a Distilled Emotion to each of the three boxes below. The necessary emotions for the desired anointing ability can be found in the Passive Skill Tree by hovering over a Notable Passive Skill and pressing alt on a keyboard or R3 on a controller.
The skills you choose to anoint will vary based on your build, and remember, this effect isn't permanent. You can re-anoint an amulet by repeating the process, allowing the new skill to override the old one, thus adapting to your evolving build needs.
Waystones can also be anointed to increase their difficulty, which in turn can yield better loot. However, both amulets and Waystones cannot be anointed if they are corrupted.
With these insights, you're now equipped to enhance your amulets through anointing, boosting your build or challenging yourself with an anointed Waystone in *Path of Exile 2*.
*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
