"Aang Avatar Movie Delayed to October 2026, Unveils New Logo"
Paramount Pictures has made notable adjustments to its upcoming film schedule, impacting the release dates of two major Nickelodeon properties: The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both films have been pushed back by several months, much to the surprise of eager fans.
As reported by Variety, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now officially titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, will no longer debut on January 30, 2026. Instead, Paramount has rescheduled the film for an October 9, 2026 premiere. This marks a delay of nearly nine months from the previously announced date. While the wait is longer, fans can take excitement from the reveal of a brand-new logo for the movie, shared exclusively below.
This latest postponement makes it the second time the film has been delayed. Originally set for an October 10, 2025 release, no official reason has been given for the change. However, confirmed cast members such as Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam remain attached to the project.
Set many years after the events of the original animated series, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender follows the journey of the iconic protagonist in a new story that expands the Avatar universe. The film was officially named during last month’s CinemaCon and is intended to be the first installment in a planned trilogy.
In addition to the Avatar delay, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 has also been postponed. Initially slated for an October 9, 2026 premiere, the sequel is now scheduled to arrive on September 17, 2027—nearly a full year later than expected.
This means fans will need to wait even longer to see how the cliffhanger mid-credits scene from the first film plays out. Currently, plot details and casting information remain under wraps. In the meantime, audiences can enjoy the spin-off series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to help bridge the gap.
