Fortnite has officially returned to the U.S. Apple App Store, bringing the globally beloved battle royale experience back to iPhone and iPad users after a five-year absence.
Epic Games, the developer behind Fortnite, announced the exciting news with a post on X (formerly Twitter), signaling the game’s triumphant return to iOS platforms. Mobile gamers can now once again enjoy Fortnite as it resumes its place among the most popular mobile titles. The new iOS store page closely mirrors its original layout from 2020, now featuring an updated opening line: “Fortnite is back!”

As of this writing, some U.S. users may encounter difficulty locating Fortnite directly through the App Store search function. However, Epic assures that visibility will improve shortly. In the interim, players can access its revived store page directly via link. For European Union residents, the game is also available for download through the Epic Games Store and AltStore.
This milestone marks a significant resolution to the long-standing conflict between Epic Games and Apple. The feud began in August 2020 when both Apple and Google removed Fortnite from their app stores. The removal followed an update by Epic that introduced a direct payment system designed to bypass the platforms’ traditional in-app purchase structure—effectively lowering the cost of V-Bucks and challenging the industry-standard 30% fee imposed by app store gatekeepers.
What followed was a protracted legal battle that kept Fortnite out of official app storefronts for millions of players who had previously accessed the game via iOS or Android devices. The dispute reached a turning point in April 2025, when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney revealed that Fortnite would be returning to the iOS App Store in early May, following a ruling by a U.S. Federal District Court in California. Although a last-minute delay occurred due to continued interference from Apple, the wait is finally over—Fortnite is back on iOS.
Players downloading the game on Apple devices now have multiple options for purchasing V-Bucks. Whether choosing to buy through the Epic Games Store or via in-app transactions, users benefit from more flexibility. For example, those opting for the 2,800 V-Bucks pack priced at $22.99 can elect to pay directly through the Epic platform, receiving $4.60 (20%) back in credit applicable to future purchases across Epic’s ecosystem.
For ongoing updates about Fortnite, fans can explore Epic's latest collaboration involving the Darth Vader AI bot—a Star Wars-themed feature that has drawn attention for unexpected player exploits, including prompting the AI to say inappropriate language. Additionally, the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) recently filed an unfair labor practice charge against Epic, highlighting ongoing concerns within the entertainment industry.
With Fortnite back on iOS and continuing to evolve, the battlefield is more dynamic than ever.
