Announcing

Get ready, Yakuza fans! A Like a Dragon Direct is set for later this week, offering a closer look at Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii before its February release. Unlike recent mainline entries, this title returns to the fluid, real-time combat system reminiscent of the original Kiryu saga, starring Goro Majima in a Hawaiian adventure following the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

RGG Studio, the developers behind the Yakuza series, made a splash at the 2024 Game Awards with reveals of Virtua Fighter 6 and a new IP, Project Century. While their work on Virtua Fighter 6 was noteworthy, Project Century, a 1915 Japan-set action brawler, has generated significant intrigue due to its potential connection to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon universe.

The upcoming Like a Dragon Direct, focusing on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, will stream on YouTube and Twitch this Thursday, January 9th, at 12 PM EST. RGG promises new gameplay showcases with minimal story spoilers.

Like a Dragon Direct Details:

  • Date: January 9th
  • Time: 12 PM EST
  • Platforms: YouTube, Twitch

While much of the combat and minigames have already been unveiled, anticipation remains high for what RGG will reveal. While the Direct is specifically for Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, speculation abounds about potential teases of other projects, such as a rumored Yakuza 3 Kiwami remake or even another glimpse of Project Century, though the latter seems less likely given the event's title.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii sets sail on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on February 21st, promising a unique experience amidst a crowded February release lineup including titles like Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Avowed. The mystery of what RGG has in store will soon be revealed.
