Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series
Imagine the excitement of seeing Alicia Silverstone donning that unforgettable yellow and plaid outfit once again. The iconic actress is set to reprise her beloved role as Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series, which is in development at Peacock. While plot specifics remain under wraps, we do know that this series will continue the narrative from the cherished 1995 film.
This project marks a fresh approach, distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020. Leading the creative charge are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl and its reboot. They'll be joined by Jordan Weiss in writing and executive producing the series. The team is rounded out by Amy Heckerling, the mastermind behind the original Clueless film, and Robert Lawrence, the film's producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to bring this vision to life.
This isn't the first time Clueless has ventured into television. After the film's success, a TV adaptation ran on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, featuring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone. Fans have recently seen Silverstone back in character during a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, hinting at her eagerness to step back into Cher's world. It's no surprise she's ready to dive back into that iconic closet.
