The PMRC Rondo Cup 2025, a thrilling PUBG Mobile esports tournament, concluded this past weekend with team Yangon Galacticos emerging as the champions. Their victory not only crowned them winners but also secured them the lion's share of the impressive $20,000 prize pool generously provided by PUBG.

This exciting event took place on PUBG's newest and largest map to date, Rondo. The map hosted 16 teams that earned their spots through various qualifying tournaments, including D'Xavier at PMSL SEA Spring, Rangers at PMCL Spring, and R3GICIDE at PMSL CSA Fall.

Yangon Galacticos clinched the win under the PMRC Rondo Cup's innovative SMASH format rules. This ruleset required teams to accumulate over 30 points and then secure a victory in a different match to claim the title. However, after six matches, no team met these criteria, leading to Yangon Galacticos' victory due to their overwhelming points lead.

PMRC Rondo Cup 2025 HighlightsThe tournament also saw HORAA Esports and Bigetron Esports taking the second and third spots, respectively, showcasing the Rondo Cup's success and highlighting PUBG Mobile's ambitious esports plans that have been on an upward trajectory since 2024.

Interestingly, the first tournament to introduce the SMASH rule didn't see a winner via this format, which raises questions about its future use. Whether the SMASH rule will return depends on the organizers' assessment of its potential to foster more skilled and entertaining gameplay in future tournaments.
