World of Warcraft is introducing the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar mounts as rewards for two exclusive promotions in China. Although currently unavailable in other regions, these new mounts are reimagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, which were originally raid boss drops.
Following the reestablishment of the partnership between NetEase and Blizzard last year, games like World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, and Overwatch 2 have returned to China. To celebrate, World of Warcraft has introduced various new features, including the Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the Xiao Liu pet with teleportation capabilities.
Now, WoW China is gearing up for another exciting promotion starting January 15, featuring these reimagined rare mounts. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar are recolored versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and the Ashes of Al'ar, two of the rarest mounts in World of Warcraft. These fiery birds will be available through twin parallel promotions exclusive to China and can be used in both modern and Classic WoW.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, while visually similar to the Pureblood Fire Hawk dropped by Ragnaros in the Firelands raid of WoW: Cataclysm, features distinctive xiangyun or "auspicious clouds" within its wings. These clouds symbolize peace, immortality, and good fortune and have been culturally significant in China for over 3000 years. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded version of the phoenix mount dropped by Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade's The Eye raid, comes with a stylish black saddle and flavor text echoing Kael'thas's iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk can be obtained through an event called the Treasure Workshop, though specific details remain undisclosed. Conversely, the Golden Ashes of Al'ar is available from Landro's Loot Box, which costs ¥200 (approximately $27). Each box contains one of eight items, including other prestigious rewards such as the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger, a rare mount from World of Warcraft's discontinued TCG. Players can form teams when purchasing these loot boxes, earning additional crates upon reaching certain spending milestones.
While there is no current evidence suggesting the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al'ar will be released internationally, it remains a possibility. Until then, players outside China can only admire these stunning mounts from afar.
