Nintendo Switch 2 Sells 3.5M Units in Four Days

Nintendo has revealed that the Switch 2 has become its fastest-selling hardware to date, moving over 3.5 million units globally within the first four days.

The announcement came via Twitter/X, where the company stated: "#NintendoSwitch2 has surpassed 3.5 million units sold worldwide in its initial four-day period, making it Nintendo’s fastest-selling hardware ever on a global scale."

This impressive milestone can be largely attributed to the ample supply of Switch 2 units, a contrast to the stock shortages that have historically affected Nintendo and competing hardware launches. It also aligns with statements from Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser, who assured that the company would meet U.S. demand for the new console—a promise that appears to have been fulfilled.

For context, the original Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units within its first month.

The news follows a recent report from The Game Business indicating that the Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling Nintendo console in UK history, overtaking the previous record held by the Nintendo 3DS.

In our ongoing Nintendo Switch 2 review, we noted: "So far, this sequel meets expectations: it’s a thoughtful upgrade to an already outstanding console. It modernizes several dated features, refines numerous design elements in subtle yet meaningful ways, and introduces an ambitious new control option that, while impressive, doesn’t function quite as seamlessly as we had hoped."
