"Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Still in Development, Developer Confirms"
Saber Interactive has reassured fans that all of its previously announced projects are still in active development, despite the lack of updates on major titles like the eagerly awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. In a recent statement, Saber's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits emphasized the studio's commitment to its announced games, stating, "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world. We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."
Willits' comments come on the heels of the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, reinforcing the studio's ongoing efforts across a diverse portfolio of titles. The KOTOR remake, announced in 2021, has been a particularly elusive project. It has changed development teams multiple times and, despite Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch's confirmation in April 2024 that the game was taken with them during their split from Embracer Group and remains in active development, there has been no new footage or significant updates since the initial announcement video.
Karch had previously stated, "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this. It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations." Willits' recent statement reaffirms Karch's comments, providing further assurance to fans about the KOTOR remake's progress.
In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive has several other games in the pipeline. Titles such as John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for a 2025 release, though specific dates have yet to be announced. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled project based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the recent addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their roster, Saber Interactive continues to expand its offerings.
