Square Enix Reveals Kingdom Hearts 4 Details, Shares Screenshots, Promises to Meet Fan Expectations
Square Enix has put to rest any lingering doubts about the development of Kingdom Hearts 4 with a clear and direct message on social media, accompanied by a series of captivating images that showcase the game's progress. This reaffirmation comes on the heels of the announcement that Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a GPS-based action-RPG intended for mobile devices, has been canceled. However, the developer seized this opportunity to reassure fans that they are diligently working on Kingdom Hearts 4.
"We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" stated Square Enix in their first of two social media posts. This message was accompanied by a collage featuring various screenshots that give fans a glimpse of the characters, cinematic sequences, combat scenarios, platforming elements, and a formidable large enemy.

"We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts," the second post continued. "We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support."
This update marks the first substantial news on the eagerly awaited sequel in months, the last being a tiny, cryptic tease for Kingdom Hearts 4 back in January. Although revealed in September 2022 with a full cinematic trailer, Square Enix had maintained a notable silence on the project until this latest update.
Series director Tetsuya Nomura has previously hinted that Kingdom Hearts 4 will, after 22 years and 18 games, start steering the narrative towards its conclusion, promising fans a significant development in the saga.
Regarding the now-canceled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, Square Enix extended their "heartfelt apologies to everyone who have been looking forward" to the game. The decision to cancel the project was made because it was "determined that it would be difficult [...] to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time."
