Fans eagerly awaiting the release of "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" will have to exercise patience, as star Jharrel Jerome has confirmed that production on the third installment is still in the planning stages. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't even begun recording lines for the film, indicating that many aspects of the project are still "being figured out." Despite the anticipation, Jerome expressed optimism, stating, "No, I wish. We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

The delay comes as no surprise to many, considering the five-year gap between the first film and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," which was released in 2023. Jerome, who played a pivotal role as Miles G. Morales from Earth-42 in the second film, is set to take on a more significant role in the upcoming sequel. In "Across the Spider-Verse," Jerome's character emerges as the Prowler, a stark contrast to the main protagonist, Miles Morales, who became Spider-Man.

In the film's finale, it's revealed that the life of Miles G. Morales took a darker turn when the radioactive spider meant for him ended up in the reality of the main Miles Morales, leading him to become Spider-Man instead. Without the spider bite, Miles G. Morales did not become a hero; instead, following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, he turned to villainy and became the Prowler, contributing to a New York ruled by supervillains.

The narrative of how these two versions of Miles Morales will collide is expected to be explored in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." However, fans will need to wait until at least 2026 for the film's release, according to Deadline. If the film follows the release pattern of its predecessor, it might not hit theaters until 2028.
