Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary the only way an Ultramarine knows: with heavy firepower and even more Chaos to obliterate. Here's everything confirmed so far by Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment for the upcoming update.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is nearing its first anniversary, but the Emperor's duty never ends. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have confirmed the co-op shooter is expanding further, with a "large-scale update" launching in September and a second year of both free and premium content officially confirmed. This shift is primarily because much of the content originally planned for Update 9 has been moved to Update 10, making Update 9 mainly about balance adjustments.

In a recent Steam community update, Saber and Focus detailed their roadmap to support Space Marine 2 well into 2026. "We're thrilled to announce a second year of free content and DLC, included in a newly introduced annual season pass!" the studio stated. "Look forward to new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and... even more."

The word "more" here seems to carry significant weight. Even as development on Space Marine 3 has officially commenced, the team's hints about future content suggest they are committed to long-term support for Space Marine 2, though many precise details remain confidential.

The upcoming 10.0 update, scheduled for September, is the highlight of the anniversary celebration, bringing a substantial package of new additions. A key feature is a new PvP mode, though fans will need to wait a bit longer. Originally planned for the 9.0 update this summer, the mode is now slated for a September release.

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment haven't revealed all the specifics, but the new mode will feature Chaos forces battling each other on a brand-new map, rather than the usual "Loyalist vs. Chaos" format seen in standard PvP. Players will also be able to control the Helbrute, one of Space Marine 2's boss enemies, alongside "new Chaos armor sets" and the Power Axe, which comes with its own unique moveset and execution animations. So far, only a work-in-progress model of this weapon has been shown.

Also coming soon is a new playable class: the Techmarine. While Saber and Focus are keeping details under wraps for now, it's speculated that this class, known in Warhammer 40k lore as the engineers and battlefield technicians of the Adeptus Astartes, may specialize in repairing equipment and reinforcing defenses during combat.

They did confirm that the Techmarine class will be usable in both PvE and PvP game modes. Keen players can look forward to more information in future community updates, expected later in July and August, as the studio gears up for the major September release.

Looking forward, players can anticipate consistent content releases throughout the game's second year. The new seasonal pass will offer a mix of free updates and premium DLC, continuing the model Saber established during the game's first year.

Though no exact release date for Update 9.0 has been set, the studio indicates it should arrive sometime this summer. Further details about the 10.0 update, the Chaos PvP mode, and the Techmarine class are expected in upcoming community posts throughout July and August.
