"South Park Season 27 Release Date Revealed in Topical Trailer"
The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the return of Season 27, and it looks like our favorite crew from Colorado is tackling, well, the state of things. And by tackling, we mean they're barely managing.
The beloved animated series has released a new trailer that teases the upcoming season. The trailer cleverly tricks viewers into thinking it's a dramatic sneak peek at a new drama. With intense editing and ominous music setting the mood, the twist comes when Randy, Stan’s dad, and his sister Shelley appear on screen. Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to intense action, hinting at several major (and topical) events for the season. These include multiple plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy appearance, and what appears to be another war with Canada. Longtime fans, or even those who've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, might have anticipated the latter.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, over two years after the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has released three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
