Smite 2 Free-to-Play Launch Date Announced Alongside New Character

Smite 2's Open Beta Launches January 14th with Aladdin and More!

Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, enters its free-to-play open beta on January 14th, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, promising a fresh and exciting experience for both veterans and newcomers.

Initially launched in Alpha in 2024, Smite 2 has steadily expanded its roster of Gods, game modes, and features. The open beta will significantly increase the playable God count, approaching 50 by January 2025, and introduce a wealth of new content.

Aladdin Arrives!

Joining the fray on January 14th is Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon. This Magical Assassin and Jungler boasts unique abilities, including wall-running and the ability to trap enemies within his lamp. He joins returning favorites from the original Smite, including Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, each with revamped skill sets.

New Game Modes and Features:

The open beta will introduce several exciting new game modes:

• Joust (3v3): An Arthurian-themed map featuring teleporters and stealth grass for strategic gameplay.
• Duel (1v1): Utilizing the same map as Joust, offering intense head-to-head combat.

Smite 2 also introduces Aspects, a unique gameplay mechanic allowing players to sacrifice a God's standard ability for a powerful alternative. For example, Athena can choose to forgo her ally-shielding teleport for a damaging teleport onto enemies. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.

Beyond new modes, Smite 2 boasts numerous quality-of-life improvements, including:

• Role Guides for new players
• Improved in-game messaging
• PC text chat
• Enhanced item store
• Detailed death recaps

Esports Debut:

The excitement continues with the first Smite 2 esports tournament finale, taking place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17th to 19th.
