Fans of the acclaimed 2012 video game *Sleeping Dogs* have reason to celebrate as the previously canceled film adaptation might see a revival, thanks to Marvel star Simu Liu. According to a report by Newsweek, Liu, known for his role in *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings*, expressed his interest in bringing the game to the big screen. In response to a fan's post on X/Twitter, Liu stated, "Working with the rights holders to bring Sleeping Dogs to the big screen," indicating active efforts to resurrect the project.

The film adaptation was initially announced back in 2017, with martial arts icon Donnie Yen set to star. However, the project fell silent a year later and was officially confirmed to be scrapped just a few weeks ago by Yen himself. In a heartfelt statement, Yen shared his disappointment, saying, "I spent a lot of time and did a lot of work with these producers, and I even invested some of my own money into obtaining the drafts and some of the rights. I waited for years. And I really wanted to do it. And unfortunately... I don't know. You know how Hollywood goes, right?"

With Yen's announcement, it seemed all hope was lost for fans eager to see the Hong Kong-set action franchise continue on the big screen. Yet, Liu's recent comments have reignited that hope. While it remains uncertain whether Liu will secure the rights or successfully bring the project to fruition, his involvement has sparked renewed interest and anticipation among fans.

*Sleeping Dogs* originally launched on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and follows the gripping narrative of detective Wei Shen as he infiltrates one of Hong Kong's notorious Triad crime syndicates. The game received widespread acclaim, scoring an impressive 8/10 from IGN. Despite its success, no sequels or follow-ups have been released, making the prospect of a film adaptation even more exciting for fans.
