No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

At present, Pokémon TCG Pocket is not slated to join Pokémon's competitive circuit. Chris Brown, The Pokémon Company's Director of eSports, shared during a VGC interview on February 25, 2025, that while they continuously assess various titles for potential inclusion in the competitive scene, Pokémon TCG Pocket is not on the immediate horizon.

Brown lightheartedly mentioned "Pokémon Sleep is out there too," referencing the company's April Fool’s parody trailer for the Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament. However, he clarified, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, though we're always evaluating new possibilities."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

While no official reasons have been given for excluding Pokémon TCG Pocket from the competitive scene, fans have speculated on several factors. The game is still in its infancy, having been launched just four months ago in October 2024 with only two sets released so far.

Although the game includes competitive features from the start, the community has been vocal about ongoing balancing issues. Pokémon TCG Pocket is designed as a simplified, more beginner-friendly version of the traditional Pokémon card game, which suggests that fostering a competitive environment is not its primary goal.

Despite this, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit continues to offer a variety of events for fans, including Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite. These games will be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.
