Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals
The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the persistent challenges fans face when trying to obtain the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company has assured fans that reprints are on the horizon and that they are diligently working to ensure these products reach their eager audience.
The launch of the Pokémon TCG's latest set, Destined Rivals, encountered numerous hurdles, including product shortages, issues with pre-orders, and the inevitable presence of scalpers. This set, along with others like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, has been highly sought after, making them tough to acquire.

In their statement, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that some fans are "experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability." They expressed understanding of the disappointment this causes and committed to ramping up production to meet this demand. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement explained. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."
The company also outlined plans to enhance future TCG expansions by "maximizing production" to ensure greater product availability from the outset. They also promised ongoing reprints of affected products to replenish stock, including at the Pokémon Center.
Addressing the issue of scalpers, The Pokémon Company subtly indicated their strategy. For releases on the Pokémon Center, they are "committed to providing a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost." This includes using a virtual queue system during high-traffic periods to manage product distribution.
"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. They expressed gratitude to the community for their "continued support and patience" as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.
With these assurances from The Pokémon Company, fans can hopefully look forward to a smoother and less stressful experience when new Pokémon TCG sets are released.
