Pikmin Bloom Celebrates 3.5 Years with Classic Nintendo Console Theme

Pikmin Bloom is getting ready to celebrate its 3.5th anniversary next month, and Niantic isn’t holding back. This time around, the game is bringing back some nostalgic elements that will surely spark memories of Nintendo’s early days. The celebration kicks off with a brand-new event starting May 1st, 2025.

The Update Is a Cool Throwback to the Good Old Nintendo Days!

Over the years, Pikmin Bloom has introduced a variety of fun and quirky decor items, from Pikmin wearing Mahjong Tiles to those sporting Playing Cards. Now, for the 3.5th anniversary, the game is diving even deeper into Nintendo's rich history by introducing classic gaming console-themed decorations from the 80s and 90s.

Additionally, players can look forward to the new Playing Card (Clubs Suit) Decor Pikmin—a tribute to Nintendo’s origins as a playing card company before it ventured into the world of video games. These playing card designs are inspired by Nintendo’s vintage decks, offering a unique blend of retro charm and in-game creativity.

The event runs from May 1st through May 31st, 2025, giving players an entire month to complete missions and collect exclusive Pikmin. Each time you complete an Event Challenge mission, you’ll earn random rewards such as Game Button Cells, seedlings that grow into Nintendo Consoles ‘80–‘95 Decor Pikmin, and flower petals.

Don’t forget to watch out for the Brilliant Mushrooms appearing during the event. Breaking them open yields Mystery Boxes containing Game Button Cells, flower petals, and other surprises. The Nintendo Consoles ‘80–‘95 Decor Pikmin and Playing Card Decor Pikmin are especially effective against these mushrooms.

Pikmin Bloom 3.5th Anniversary Also Brings Big Flowers in May

This May, flowers have the chance to bloom into carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, or special anniversary roses—depending on which colored petals (red, yellow, white, or blue) you plant around them.

There’s also a nectar update in effect this month. Fruits obtained from mushrooms during May will now provide nectar for both regular and special flowers, including carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, and anniversary roses.

Beyond the anniversary event, there’s plenty more happening in the game, including Community Day.
