Netflix Stories Cancelled, Yet Still Playable!

Netflix has officially announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief but notable foray into narrative gaming. Despite a solid player base, the decision to cancel Netflix Stories came as a surprise to many. So, why did Netflix pull the plug on this venture? Let's dive into the details!

The cancellation news, first reported by Variety, is part of a larger strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The company is now shifting its focus towards mobile titles that include party games, children's games, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences designed for TV play.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the creative force behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue to collaborate with Netflix on other projects, including the highly anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled: What's Next?

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Netflix Stories consistently ranked among the most-played titles within the Netflix Games ecosystem. Recent data shows it securing the fourth spot in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which is based on playtime rather than downloads.

Looking ahead, the final interactive title to be released under the Netflix Stories banner will be Love Is Blind: NYC. Once this game is fully rolled out, no new games will be developed under the Netflix Stories label. This announcement follows closely on the heels of the Netflix Stories app teasing its next game, The Love Contract, originally slated for an April 8th release.

Unlike previous titles, The Love Contract was not based on any existing Netflix IP. It was set to offer an original romance story centered around an actress navigating a complex love triangle involving a Hollywood star and a billionaire, amidst a backdrop of fame, scandal, and fake dating. Unfortunately, this game has now been cancelled.

While no new Netflix Stories games will be developed, fans can still enjoy the existing titles. Games such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter's Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple will remain available for play. However, planned sequels like Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have also been cancelled.

So, there you have it—the full story on the cancellation of Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows, be sure to check out these games on the Google Play Store.
