Neil Druckmann: No Bets on The Last of Us Part 3
If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3, brace yourself for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has recently dampened any hopes of a third installment in an interview with Variety. The conversation, which primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, concluded with a question about the prospects of *The Last of Us Part 3*. Druckmann's response was a clear deterrent:
"I was waiting for this question," he said with a sigh. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."
The validity of Druckmann's statement remains open to interpretation. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December, which suggests they are years away from any potential work on *The Last of Us Part 3*. Given their focus on this new space-themed project, it's unlikely that the team has the bandwidth to tackle another *Last of Us* game anytime soon. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or he may genuinely be hesitant to commit to another sequel. Only time will tell if his stance changes, or if he's truly finished with the series.
For fans still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about the number of seasons needed to fully adapt the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal length to complete the narrative.
