Legendaries Emerge: Surprise Dynamax Raid Announcement from Pokémon GO

Pokemon GO Leaks Upcoming Dynamax Raids Featuring Legendary Birds

A recent, quickly deleted tweet from the official Pokemon GO Saudi Arabia Twitter account revealed a surprise: Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno are slated to appear in Dynamax Raids from January 20th to February 3rd. This unintentional leak suggests the arrival of the first legendary Dynamax Pokémon in the game.

The Kanto legendary birds have long been fan favorites. While they've previously appeared in standard raids (including their Shiny forms), and their Galarian counterparts in Daily Incense (with lower spawn rates), this Dynamax iteration marks a significant new addition. The timing is notable, considering Shiny Galarian versions were only recently introduced in October 2024.

Reddit user nintendo101 first spotted the now-removed tweet. The hasty deletion might indicate the announcement was premature. The inclusion of these powerful Dynamax legendaries could revitalize interest in Max Raids, which have faced criticism for their difficulty, particularly the requirement of 40 players for successful completion.

This leak hints at a broader trend. The success of Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno could pave the way for other iconic legendary Pokémon, like Mewtwo and Ho-Oh (featured in Pokemon Sword and Shield), to receive the Dynamax treatment in future Max Raids. However, the difficulty level of these legendary raids remains to be seen. Past concerns about player participation in Max Raids might resurface.

The leak arrives amidst a flurry of other Pokemon GO announcements for early 2025. These include a Community Day Classic featuring Ralts on January 25th, a Shadow Raid Day with Shadow Ho-Oh on January 19th (offering up to seven free Raid Passes), and the reveal of the host cities for Pokemon GO Fest 2025: Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris.
