Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Jason Momoa, renowned for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is gearing up to portray Lobo in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set to release in June 2026. Lobo, an iconic character created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983. This alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter hails from the planet Czarnia, sharing a similar fate with Superman as the last survivor of his now-extinct world.
Momoa, who has long expressed his admiration for Lobo, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and the character, shared his excitement and nervousness about taking on the role in a recent interview with ScreenRant. He hinted at a brief yet impactful appearance, promising a faithful representation of Lobo's rugged persona, and even teased the character's iconic bike.
In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Lobo's screen time will be limited as the film primarily focuses on Supergirl, portrayed by Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon. The movie, inspired by the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll seeking vengeance for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. Matthias Schoenaerts stars as the villain Krem, with Eve Ridley as Ruthye, and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham playing Supergirl's parents, Zor-El and Alura respectively.
DC co-chief James Gunn kicked off the production by sharing the first image of Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky in January, marking the beginning of filming for this eagerly awaited addition to the DCU. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the second installment in the new DCU, following Gunn's Superman slated for this summer, with the Clayface movie set to follow in September 2026.
For fans and gamers alike, the excitement continues to build as we anticipate Jason Momoa's dynamic portrayal of Lobo in this fresh take on the DC Universe.
