Hideaki Nishino Elevated to Sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Hiroki Totoki Promoted to Sony CEO
Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement came from a press release issued this evening, which also detailed significant leadership changes at Sony. Hiroki Totoki, the current CFO of Sony, will step into the role of president and CEO of the entire Sony Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led the company since April 2018 after Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, who has been serving as SVP of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will take on the role of CFO.
Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was announced that leadership responsibilities would be divided between Hideaki Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst was appointed to head PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was tasked with overseeing hardware and technology. With the latest restructuring, Nishino will now lead the entire SIE operation, including the platform business group, while Hulst continues to lead PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, previously held the position of SVP in the Platform Experience Group. Commenting on his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
